Design and physical layout of the installation in the entrance hall of the Teatro El Musical theatre for Andrea Torres y Mónika Vázquez’s creative residency, Escaires.
This is a participatory piece which invites reflection on today’s accelerated and precarious production systems, via a performative work that represents an atypical window onto the Cabanyal-Canyamelar neighbourhood, encouraging us to slow down and become truly aware of our surrounding environment.
The installation – which has to be assembled and disassembled in a day – displays the reading material used during the research project, along with the products of the various participatory actions that have taken place since the beginning of the project, thus highlighting the process rather than the result. A metre-wide red carpet is partially unrolled across the hall, delimiting the space and creating a powerful image. Each participant defines their own way of moving around and interacting with this performative piece and the elements it comprises.
