This project involved the complete refurbishment of a penthouse apartment in a late 70s building in the Benimaclet neighbourhood of Valencia. The property had previously belonged to the grandparents of the current owner, making it the repository of endless childhood memories and experiences.
Based on information provided by our clients, Àngels and Josep Maria, about their living habits, we drew up designs to respond to their needs as personally and specifically as possible. A few months into the project came news of baby Nora’s impending arrival, which naturally conditioned the entire process of design and implementation, making her central to every decision.
The work carried out was based on five fundamental premises: breaking down any sense of hierarchy between rooms; creating multiple connections betweens rooms to ensure maximum versatility of use; establishing overlapping visual relations throughout; making the most of natural light and ventilation; and preserving pre-existing elements of the apartment. The result is a property ready to welcome the most recent generation of this family, having been adapted and reinvented in step with the evolution of its inhabitants.
